Kansas Up Next In Contender 12 for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship had its first race of the Contender 12 last week on October 10th. Joey Logano, who has automatically secured a spot in the Eliminator 8 with the victory, won the Bank of America 500 by leading 227 of the 334-lap race.

The Sprint for the Chase Cup started with 16 drivers racing in a three-race set at ChicagoLand, New Hampshire and Dover. After those three races were completed, another three-race set, the Contender 12, has three races in Charlotte, Kansas and Talladega. With one of the three completed and two more to go, there are seven more spots available for the Eliminator 8. The competition continues to ramp up as each week passes, as less spots become available for drivers to move on to the next round in the Sprint Cup Chase.

This week, the Chase for the Sprint Cup heads to Kansas for the Hollywood Casino 400. According to TiqIQ.com, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tickets on the secondary market have an average price of $158.90 with a get-in price of $21. It is more than double the price of next’s week’s race at Talladega for the Alabama 500, which currently has an average ticket price of $72.33 and a get-in price of $35.

Flights to Kansas City on Hipmunk.com can get NASCAR fans to the second part of the Contender 12, in addition to Hipmunk offering cheap Kansas City hotels starting from $69 including three other options starting from less than $100 per night.

Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick can fill the seven remaining spots in the Eliminator 8.

The Eliminator 8 will begin in Martinsville before heading to Texas and finishing in Phoenix. The Championship 4 drivers will race in Homestead and Miami, which will ultimately determine this year’s Sprint Cup champion. Harvick won last year’s Sprint Cup Championship and is looking to pull off back-to-back titles.
