Kansas State is atop the polls. Bill Snyder is not impressed
A Kansas team is once again ranked first in the nation. The only difference is that this time it’s Kansas State sitting atop the BCS standings. The number one ranking is a testament to head coach Bill Snyder’s singular focus. There is no room for pageantry or sideline interviews in Snyder’s world. There’s room only for eliminating mistakes. There’s room only for chasing perfection. And with a quarterback who is capable of perfectly executing Snyder’s game plan, there is a real chance for perfection this season.
In our world, it’s hard to avoid distraction. It’s easy to get caught up in the circus outside the football field. And that’s why so many teams struggle under the weight of that number one designation. They forget to play solid, fundamental football. Their emotions are as tightly wound as a middle-schooler at his first dance. They fight themselves as much as the opposition. But this won’t be a problem for Kansas State; the rest of the world doesn’t have Snyder to keep them on track.
