Kansas City, the third most dangerous U.S. city, is home to one of the safest neighborhoods in the country

If you’re not sick of the endless stream of city rankings of everything from patriotism to STDs, then I fear it’s too late for you. But in the interest of saving you from this nest of death and destruction, I feel obligated to provide you the latest: There is a safe haven in Kansas City — one of the safest in the country.

Just a month ago, Forbes.com ranked Kansas City the third most dangerous city in the United States and economic website Walletpop called the Independence Avenue neighborhood the 23rd most dangerous in America. While Kansas City is full of death and danger, it’s also supposedly home to one of the safest neighborhoods in the country. Where is the oasis? Platte Woods.
