More bad news for The Kansas City Star‘s employees.

Star publisher Mark Zieman announced in a memo today that the daily is making most of its employees take a one-week unpaid furlough, offering voluntary buyouts to just about all full-time workers, and extending the wage freeze, the Star reported.

Here’s a bit more reassurance for those trapped in the mine.

Zieman said the moves announced Tuesday “should put us in the strongest position possible entering next year.”
