Kansas City Royals win the World Series after ninth-inning rally and 12th-inning offensive explosion

The Kansas City Royals took the crown Sunday night, defeating the New York Mets 7-2 and capturing the first championship since 1985.
The ninth inning of the World Series. That’s when the Royals’ offense clicked on. Eric Hosmer doubled, scoring Lorenzo Cain. Salvy Perez grounded out scoring Hosmer to knot the game at 2-2 with the New York Mets.
And then we went to 12 innings, and the machine kept churning with KC scoring five runs. Christian Colón started it off, singling to left and scoring Jarrod Dyson. Alcides Escobar followed with a double to left, scoring Colón. The punishment to left field continued with a Lorenzo Cain double, scoring Paulo Orlando, Escobar and Ben Zobrist.
“Stone Cold” Wade Davis finished off the Mets in the bottom of the 12th.
