Kansas City police member injured as driver flees from DUI checkpoint

A civilian member of the Kansas City Police Department was seriously injured Saturday morning after being struck by a driver attempting to flee a DUI checkpoint at 76th Street and Troost.

The worker, an eight-year employee with the KCPD, clung to the speeding car’s hood before falling off several blocks later. Biting the DUI bullet would be better than the hell that’s going to come from this incident, which started around 2:18 a.m.
