Kansas City Police brass ignore world around them, bitch about potential wage freezes

The proposed Kansas City budget, floated yesterday by City Manager Troy Schulte, is dripping with boring old sensibility: With the recession waning but still lingering, the proposal maintains basic services while subjecting city government to the same pain the private sector is enduring: wage freezes and even a few layoffs.
Given what they’ve gone through, most citizens will likely applaud, or at least understand, the fiscal restraint the budget shows. But the police department and union just aren’t feeling it.
