Kansas City native Heidi Gardner joining cast of Saturday Night Live
She moved out to Los Angeles over a decade ago, but prior to that, Heidi Gardner grew up in Kansas City, graduating from the local all-girls high school Notre Dame de Sion’s class of 2001. Yesterday, news broke that Gardner is one of three new cast members joining Saturday Night Live for its upcoming season, which premieres this Saturday, September 30. Hell yeah!
Gardner had lately been working as a writer and voiceover character on the animated comedy series SuperMansion and performing with the Groundlings, the L.A. comedy troupe whose alumni includes hilarious people such as Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell and Melissa McCarthy. (Gardner is also cast in the upcoming McCarthy comedy Life of the Party.) Vulture rounded up a couple of funny Gardner sketches here.
The other two new cast members are Chris Redd and Luke Null. Redd was born in St. Louis and came up in comedy through Chicago. Go Midwest! But mostly: Go Heidi!
