Kansas City Chamber Orchestra plays Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons”

Courting your annual bout of seasonal affective disorder, the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra plays Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” tonight at 7:30 at Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 West 47th Street). Hum the Italian composer’s familiar hymns to pastoral spring and lush summer as you button up your overcoat, then go home reeling from the flurry of cold strings that marks this fourth season. To soften the chill, the group will open each movement by reciting from the poetry Vivaldi purportedly wrote to accompany the piece. The night starts with Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins in B Minor. Get there at 6:30 p.m. for a preconcert talk. For tickets ($22-$29 or $5-$10 for students), call 816-235-6222 or see kcchamberorchestra.org.
