Kansas City Bier Co. taps first keg of HopfenSack at 4 p.m.

Hop heads will want to be at Kansas City Bier Co. tonight. The German-style brewery at 310 West 79th Street is tapping its first keg of HopfenSack at 4 p.m.
KC Bier Co. touts on Facebook that HopfenSack was “inspired by Boulevard Brewing Company’s legendary and elusive ‘Nutsack,'” and the brew will be a “very limited, very hoppy, and very special version of our German IPA HopfenDoof.”
Here’s the description of how HopfenSack came to fruition: “When we dry hop HopfenDoof, we stuff Centennial and Mandarina Bavaria hop cones into big sacks and toss them into our conditioning tanks. Upon emptying the conditioning tank from our latest batch of HopfenDoof, we took those super-saturated hop sacks and let them drain into a barrel to collect the hop-oil-infused bier.”
KC Bier Co. opened in the Waldo area in February. I finally got to try KC Bier Co.’s Hefe-Weizen this weekend at the Parkville Micro Brew Festival, and it was amazing.
