Kansas Chamber of Commerce decides tax on working people isn’t so bad

Republican lawmakers in Kansas, who balanced the 2010 budget by approving a temporary 1-percent increase in the state sales tax, felt the hot breath of the state’s right-wing element. The Kansas Chamber of Commerce recruited candidates to oppose moderates who supported the tax increase, leading to criticism that the organization pursued an agenda narrow enough to put in a mail slot.

It has apparently dawned on the state’s unrestrained capitalists that sales taxes are regressive. (Duh.) The Kansas chamber now wants to keep the tax on purchases in place so that, yep, corporate income taxes might be eliminated.
