Kansas Basketball Tickets: 2013-14 Season Preview

The 2013-14 college basketball season is underway and the Kansas Jayhawks are already off to a terrific start to the season. Freshman guard Andrew Wiggins has already shown why he has been considered one of the best college prospects in years, as he’s averaging 16.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. There’s some high expectations this seasons for the Jayhawks, which has led to an increase in demand for Kansas basketball tickets. This year’s average ticket price is $298 to see the Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse, a 58% increase over last year’s average price of $189. Allen Fieldhouse is one of the best home courts in all of college basketball and will continue to be during the 2013-14 season.

The Jayhawks opened the season at No. 5 in the AP Poll and have already moved up to No. 2. A 94-83 win in this season’s Champions Classic certainly helped against their biggest non-conference opponent, Duke. Kansas also has some intriguing out of conference matchups before Big 12 play starts in January.

The Georgetown Hoyas will come to Lawrence on December 21. The average ticket price is $466.35 with a get-in price of $202. Kansas and Georgetown, of the Big East, met two years ago in Maui with Kansas grabbing a 67-63 win. Georgetown is not currently ranked, but is always a tough team to play under coach John Thompson.

Of course, the biggest games of the season will be against the conference rivals in the Big 12. The biggest will be date on January 18 with current No. 8 Oklahoma State. Tickets for this game between two top ten teams have an average price of $549 and a get-in price is $195. The second most expensive game of Big 12 play, and also the season, is on February 22 when the Texas Longhorns come to visit Allen Fieldhouse. Tickets against the Longhorns have an average price of $515 and start at $166.
