Justin K. Schmitt admits stealing riding lawn mower, hot dogs and more
was admittedly a brazen thief, but he just wasn’t very good at it.
Back in August, Schmitt, admittedly high on meth, had stolen a red Chevy pick-up truck because he was out “messing around” with a friend and needed a way home. Why not swipe a truck? But in a boneheaded move, he got the truck stuck in a ditch in Sugar Creek while trying to go around barricades blocking the road, which led to an officer stopping to help out. With a suspended license, a warrant for a parole violation and a desire not to go back to jail, Schmitt decided to take off running — for Sibley, Missouri. Hey, it’s only 18 miles.
