Forty thousand women will die from breast cancer this year. If that doesn’t make you wanna get your philanthropic 5K on, consider this: The color pink is very hot right now. So maybe you’ll pony up the $25 for a really cute, bubble-gum-colored tee. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation doesn’t care what your motivation is. Its Kansas City branch wants to raise $680,000 this year, and the Race for the Cure is its main fund-raiser. The run-walk, attended by millions of people across the boob-loving globe, starts at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Union Station. Children ages 10 and younger can run a sprint for $10, and adults who despise exercise as much as they deplore cancer may opt for a 1-mile jaunt. Or no jaunt. The point is to hand over some cash and wear your race T-shirt proudly.
