Joyless, wretched Prairie Village resident demands neighbor move RV to ‘lesser neighborhood’

A brief, personal introduction to this topic: I am currently saving money to purchase a recreational vehicle of some kind. The RV is my backup plan for when the world economy craters or I am fired from this job, whichever comes first. If neither of those things happens, I want one so I can drive to interesting places and not have to pay for hotels or put up a tent. It is not an exaggeration to say that owning an RV is one of my top goals at the moment.
Evidently, though, not everybody agrees that owning an RV is a boss move. In certain parts of Prairie Village, Kansas, parking an RV in your driveway can make you an unpopular neighbor.
The Prairie Village Post has a story today about a Prairie Village resident, Amy Szablewski, who received this nasty, condescending note from an anonymous neighbor:
Dear Neighbor,
We all hope you are making plans to have your RV moved. Obviously as a neighbor we are interested in having a nice attractive street and your RV parked in the driveway makes that impossible.
In some lesser neighborhoods an RV fits right in. Independence, Gardner, Troost area, western Shawnee, etc. However, in beautiful PV KS it does not fit and we would all appreciate your having it moved.
-Your Prairie Village Neighbors.
So, there’s that, in case you were wondering what it’s like to live in a neighborhood full of white snobs with too much time on their hands.
The miserable human being who wrote this letter didn’t even address it to the right person. The RV isn’t Szablewski’s. There is an RV parked a few doors down, though, she told PV Post.
Not surprising: This isn’t the first time a recreational vehicle has caused a flare-up of drama in Prairie Village. An Airstream trailer on 67th Street has also drawn the ire of surrounding residents. The city council is expected to convene on these pressing matters sometime this year.
