Jose Canseco featured in Old Milwaukee commercials aired only in Kansas City

In February, the Internet was abuzz about Will Ferrell appearing in Super Bowl commercials for Old Milwaukee that aired only in North Platte, Nebraska. The spots were weird, amateurish and unexpected. This week, the beer’s advertising department came up with a similar campaign featuring erstwhile Oakland Athletics Bash Brother and professional thorn in baseball’s side Jose Canseco just prior to Kansas City hosting the MLB All-Star Game. The ads apparently aired once on ESPN only in Kansas City.

The first ad features Canseco giving a rousing clubhouse speech about how Kansas City has suffered through bad sports teams after the Royals’ 1985 World Series win. “After that, everyone said you went into a slump. You didn’t go into a slump. The rest of the world started cheating,” the admitted steroid user says.

In the second ad (after the jump) he hits a can of Old Milwaukee with a bat in super slow motion before rambling about how baseball used to be great and how “some of us” dragged the sport through the mud. Are they the best Old Milwaukee ads ever? Maybe.
