Joplin pets need homes too. Humane Society holding adopt-a-thon for 600 homeless animals

The EF5 tornado that ripped through Joplin in May didn’t just displace people. It also left many pets homeless. The Joplin Humane

Society is trying to find homes for 600 or so dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets,

birds and other domestic animals that have the shelter overflowing (normal capacity is 325 animals and the shelter is now housing more than 900 animals).

On June 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the shelter will waive traditional adoption fees and hold an adopt-a-thon to find these animals new homes, our old friends at the Riverfront Times reported.
