John McNamara was driving 131 mph drunk when he crashed and killed Abby Cockrill

It’s unfair that John McNamara gets to live but Abby Cockrill is dead.

McNamara was driving his Camaro SS drunk, maxing out at 152 mph on the night of the crash, August 22, 2010.

When McNamara hit the rear of the Pontiac G6 that Cockrill was riding in, he had slowed down to 131 mph. It was shortly before 1:30 a.m., and the impact sent the Pontiac off the road, overturning and traveling more than 430 feet. Cockrill died at the scene — northbound on Interstate 29 near Barry Road — and the Pontiac’s driver was hospitalized.
