Jim Button & the Beholders’ debut EP throws a mini-party — listen here

High Dive Records, perhaps understanding the kind of year it’s been, has a little something for those of us who may have forgotten how to have fun. In fact, not a few people wouldn’t know a good time if it smacked them square in the face. So Time Never Lies — the debut EP by Jim Button & the Beholders — takes aim and does just that (not unkindly). The EP’s opening track, “Love It or Leave It,” is the sonic equivalent of the first beer cracked open at a festive neighborhood block party, one you know will rage long past sunset. Listen for yourself:

And who better to host this block party than a bunch of familiar faces? Local rock scenesters should recognize frontman Jim Button and guitarist Vincent Lawhon from psych-pop outfit the Conquerors. The extra vigilant may remember bassist Bryan Koehler from El Rey-Tones and drummer Jerad Meadows from Bleachbloodz. Recombined, the foursome blends psychedelic rock, surfy guitar work and classic pop songwriting into something fresh and vibrant.
