Jezebel.com joins in on the co-mayor fun, makes jokes we stopped making a year ago

In this post, Jezebel.com writer Megan Carpentier makes sense of all this silly Funk/Squitiro business for us dolts here in KC, who apparently were so busy feeling sympathy for Funkhouser’s wife that we missed the real reason why Gloria should be dismissed from the mayor’s office:
“The problem is that rather than attacking Squitiro for her racist statements
or standing up for the woman who was sexually harassed by her, the dudes around
Funkhauser [sic] are running around spouting off sexist crap, thereby garnering
sympathy for a woman who obviously doesn’t deserve it,” Carpentier writes. Aw, that’s cute — New Yorkers think Kansas Citians are feminists! She should visit sometime.
Anyway, it goes on: “Were Gloria Squitiro any other city employee, her actions in the case of the
aide would be considered completely unacceptable and she would have been fired.
That Funkhauser [sic] has not condemned his wife’s actions, let alone sought to bypass
a city ordinance by continuing to rely on her counsel, shows that he either
considers those actions acceptable or is unwilling to treat his wife like any
other city employee, which is unacceptable nepotism.”
Thanks, Megan. It’s all so clear now. Please come drop some of your wisdom on the Royals?
