Jermane Johnson Jr.’s mother says 18-month-old’s drowning death was an ‘accident’

Last week, we heard the story of the 5-year-old girl accused of drowning her 18-month-old cousin in a bathtub because he wouldn’t stop crying. Police considered the girl a “homicide suspect.” But in an interview with a St. Louis television station, Nicole Curry, the mother of victim Jermane Johnson Jr., called the drowning an accident.

“I just want people to know it was an accident,” Curry told KPLR. “I know what happened. I know in my heart what happened.”
