Jeff Krum named president of Boulevard, Brewery Ommegang and Duvel Moortgat USA
There’s new leadership at Boulevard Brewing Co., Brewery Ommegang and Duvel Moortgat USA.
Jeff Krum, a longtime Boulevard leader, has been named its new president.
Krum replaces Simon Thorpe, who will work in an advisory role through the end of this month. Krum has been with Boulevard since 1994, spending two decades as
chief financial officer before assuming the role of vice president of
corporate affairs for Boulevard, Duvel Moortgat and Brewery Ommegang in 2014.
In a press release today, Duvel Moortgat CEO Michel Moortgat thanked Thorpe and praised Krum.
“Since coming together as a family of breweries in 2014, we’ve made great strides growing our business in this dynamic and ever-changing industry,” Moortgat said in the release. “We are grateful for Simon’s strong leadership, and wish him the very best in his future endeavors. Jeff’s deep roots in our company, extensive experience and strong commitment to our organization make us confident he is the right person to oversee our U.S. operations.”
Krum is the visionary behind Boulevard’s new visitors center and beer hall. Last month, I toured the facility with Krum, director of tours and recreation Amber Ayres and ambassador brewery Jeremy Danner. Both Ayres and Danner credited Krum with bringing that impressive interactive space to life.
During the tour, Krum told me: “We’ve known we’ve had a big problem for years now. We’ve always been turning people away and every year it’s more and more and more. So I’ve had my eye on this building for a long time, because I figured we could do just that: an expanded visitors center.”
That space is now a jewel within the local beer community.
