Jazz Beat: Dino Massa, with the Chris Burnett Group, Saturday at the Art Factory

A year ago, pianist Dino Massa visited from Naples, Italy. Paired with alto saxophonist Chris Burnett, he filled Take Five Coffee + Bar one night and the Blue Room the next. Massa and Burnett met two decades ago, when both were in the NATO band in Naples. Massa is known for performances of both classical music and jazz. Burnett is the marketing director of the American Jazz Museum, a managing partner of the ARC CD label — and a musician whose compositions flow with modern sophistication. Saturday night, they reunite at the Art Factory, a wine-serving gallery that’s filling the weekend gap left in Johnson County by Take Five’s closing. Joining them are guitarist Charles Gastchet, bassist Andrew Stinson and drummer Clarence Smith.
