Jazz Beat: Dino Massa and Chris Burnett Group, at the Blue Room and at Take Five Coffee + Bar

By day, Chris Burnett is marketing director of the American Jazz Museum. By night, he’s a wonder on the alto saxophone, playing contemporary compositions — many of them his own — with finesse and a natural ease. This week offers two chances to hear him, both times matched with a pianist from Italy. Dino Massa, whom Burnett met 20 years ago while performing with the NATO band in Naples, is known for performing both classical and jazz. Friday night at the Blue Room and Saturday at Take Five Coffee + Bar, they reunite, joined by Andrew Stinson on bass, Charles Gatschet on guitar and Clarence Smith on drums.
