Janelle Monae, “Tightrope”

Despite the fact that Janelle Monae doesn’t ever seem to play Kansas City, she’s from here, and we love her. Her music is soul, funk, and danceable as hell. If she doesn’t make you want to bust a move like James Brown, we feel sorry for you. Her new album, The ArchAndroid hits stores on May 18. We expect there to be lines all over KC when stores open that Tuesday.
