​James Kraig Kahler’s 11-year-old son testifies that he witnessed his father shoot his mother

James Kraig Kahler‘s 11-year-old son testified Tuesday at  a preliminary hearing that

he witnessed his father fatally shoot his mother. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that Kahler’s son was cleaning coins with his mother when his father barged into the home and shot his mother with a deer rifle.

Kahler, who goes by his middle name and is Columbia’s former water department director, is charged with four counts of capital murder in the November 2009 killings of his 44-year-old ex-wife, Karen; her 89-year-old grandmother, Dorothy

Wight; and the couple’s 18- and 16-year-old daughters, Emily and Lauren.
