J.A.H. and Madame E
A wise man once said DJing is 70 percent track selection and 30 percent technical skills. After all, party-rocking merits come from what you play more than how you play it. J.A.H. and Madame E, a newly formed KC boy-girl DJ duo, hit Sike’s monthly dance night at the Record Bar on Thursday. J.A.H. played at Kabal and Skybox for more than four years while participating in a now-defunct open DJ collective called the Heavy Lounge, which included the likes of Ben Fuller, Bucho and Brian Slater. He hooked up with Madame E, who hosted a radio show on KJHK 90.7, after realizing that they shared similar tastes in music. Both say they’re going to play whatever they want whenever they want but promise to keep it rootsy and danceable at the same time. We can vouch that neither one’s track selections are anything to be fucked with, so Thursday you can expect all killer and no filler.
