Kansas State’s basketball team could have used Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly last night. UNLV beat the 11th-ranked (but not for long) Wildcats 63-59 at the Sprint Center last night. Pullen and Kelly didn’t play because they were suspended for receiving “impermissible benefits.”
The announcement of the suspensions came down an hour before game time, which I imagine was followed with 60 minutes of coach Frank Martin screaming at his top two players. What is an impermissible benefit? It’s reportedly taking more clothes from a Manhattan department store than you paid for — but it’s not stealing because the store’s clerk let ’em do it.
