INTO THE WOODS

To a rickety old cabin in ominous, fog-enshrouded environs, add five college students with questionable judgment. Stir up murderous phantasms. Fold in gallons of blood. Shake. That’s a recipe for horror. Now add singing, dancing, slapstick and a “splatter zone” for serious patrons of the arts occupying the front rows. That’s the recipe for the Kansas City premiere run of Evil Dead: The Musical, in which our intrepid hero, Ash, has a song in his heart as well as a chainsaw attached to his arm. The musical mayhem continues tonight at 8 at the H&R Block City Stage at Union Station (30 West Pershing Road), then wraps this weekend with shows at 8 and 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. To order $15 general-admission tickets ($13 for Saturday’s late show), call 816-460-2020 or see unionstation.org/evildead.html.
