Interpol

Okay, so they’re not actually coming here, per se — but it’s worth investigating: what’s Interpol like, now that they’ve lost Carlos D.? In case you forgot they existed (hey, it’s easy enough; the band hasn’t released any new material since Our Love to Admire in 2007), the New York band is releasing a new album and going on tour this summer, and they’re stopping by the Blue Note in Columbia.

Though the album includes the band’s bassist, the tour won’t. In addition to holding down the low end on Interpol’s sparse, Joy Division-influenced arrangements, Carlos D. was also severely stylish, with a bizarre penchant for empty gun holsters. (We quote: “When I see a badly-dressed guy, it makes me sick.”)
Interpol is at the Blue Note on July 5. Click below to hear their new song, “Lights.”
