Charlotte Street introduces a new art series with ‘In(SITE): Transmissions’
“The Forcefields invite you on a collective journey through sonic space for their upcoming performance, Transmissions.”
Charlotte Street introduces a new series, IN(SITE), that will debut Friday, Feb. 23.
The series kicks off with the performance Transmissions by artists Julia Othmer, and James T. Lundie, known collectively as The Forcefields. Transmissions will begin at 7:30pm in the Charlotte Street Stern Theater and will run for an hour and a half.
IN(SITE) is a new series curated by Patrick Alexander, the Residency and Programs Manager at Charlotte Street. It is described as “a new series that showcases contemporary works that push boundaries, take risks, and demonstrate excellence in the performing arts.” The series will feature local, regional, and national acts as a pivotal point in their practice.
“My goal with IN(SITE) is to create a platform for performing artists to conceive ideas of what a performance is and can be.”
Transmissions is a multidisciplinary collaboration with artists Othmer (Aayama Forcefield), Lundie (Max Forcefield), Simon Huntley, Sarah Hearn, and Mikal Shapiro. It is “an exploration of cosmic vibrations and soundscapes in a stunning one-night-only production.”
Both performers Othmer and Lundie are successful artists that have had work featured in movies, television, and the BBC. Othmer is known for her intense stage presence and dynamic performances. She has toured with notable artists such as Regina Spektor, Sarah McLachlan, The Alarm, and Emmylou Harris. Lundie most commonly utilizes unique instrumentation such as re-imagined vintage gear, bespoke audio equipment, and instruments of his own creation.
The Forcefields were selected to be a part of IN(SITE) by Alexander because he feels that this is a pivotal moment in both of the artist’s careers, as they have previously existed as solo artists. He has followed Othmer’s work for years and says that “Julia is so community oriented and has a deep connection with her fans. This will be, without a doubt, a celebration of collaboration and community. I hope that audiences will leave inspired and in wonderment.”
Charlotte Street is located at 3333 Wyoming Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.
