Incoming: Turbulence at the Mission Theatre, August 29

Big 3 Promotions is bringing Turbulence, one of the best dancehall artists straight from Jamaica to the Mission Theatre on August 29.
With hit singles such as “Notorious,” “Real Warriors,” and “Ganja Head,” he has emerged as one of the best acclaimed “Bobo” artists of this generation. Sharing a similar vocal style to that of Sizzla, his strength lies in his rich and powerful singing voice. With influences ranging from Bob Marley to Luciano, he has developed a unique singing and deejaying style.
This is the sort of reggae for people who don’t want to hear the usual lame raps over a 4/4 rhythm guitar. Turbulence can spit rhymes like Luciano or Buju Banton, but has the range to sing. He’s like Matisyahu, but enjoyable. This is also the sort of show that Kansas City rarely gets. Since we lost the Reggae Fest years back, these acts that are big in Jamaica and the Caribbean don’t make it to the MidWest very often — if ever. Turbulence is definitely the sort of thing of which you ought to take advantage.
