Incoming: Stars Wars In Concert at the Sprint Center, December 9

Lord of the Rings did a symphony tour last year, and that was a fairly nifty idea. However, that’s a fairly geek niche. Because as popular as those movies were, they’re nowhere near the iconic films that are the Star Wars series.

Hence the fact that the massive Star Wars In Concert tour is landing at the Sprint Center this December.

Star Wars: In Concert, a unique multi-media event featuring music from all six of John Williams’ epic Star Wars scores, begins its worldwide arena tour on October 1, 2009 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Narrated live by Anthony Daniels (the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all six films), the production features a full symphony orchestra and choir, accompanied by specially edited footage from the films displayed on a three-story-tall, high-definition LED super-screen — one of the largest ever put on tour. The live music and film elements are synchronized in order to create a full multimedia, one-of-a-kind Star Wars experience.

Oh, and there’s an exhibition of costumes and props from the films that tours with the concert, too. Excited, yet? I’m bouncing up and down like monkey on trucker speed right now.

Tickets go on-sale to the general public through Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. this Saturday morning, October 17, but you can find a pre-sale here. Use the password “AMEX” to get your tickets early.

And may the force be with you.
