Incoming: Arctic Monkeys at Liberty Hall, April 12

We’ve been jamming the ever-loving hell out of Arctic Monkeys‘ debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not at the day job the past couple of weeks. It’s an angular rocker that actually managed to live up to the promise shown with “I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor.”

It was even more surprising to see that Favourite Worst Nightmare managed to take everything that worked on Whatever People Say I Am and improve upon it. Usually, the UK music press gets all enthused about a band, and said band get pushed into a record deal, record an album that’s half-baked, and then die a slow, painful death.

Arctic Monkeys have managed to not only live up to the hype, but move beyond it and become a regular band that makes quality albums. Hopefully, the live show lives up to the albums, because the band is coming to Liberty Hall on April 12 with Sleepy Sun. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 12, so says their news page.
