If you drove hammered this weekend and got away with it, you’re one of the lucky ones

Around midnight on Saturday night, reader Kristin Russ Tweeted at @pitchplog that she’d heard about a DUI checkpoint near 77th and Wornall.
Guess we should have retweeted that. The Star reports that 20 drivers were nabbed for driving drunk at the checkpoint. Police usually manage to pull over 600-700 drivers at those stops. That means about 3 percent of cars on the road between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. are operated by the inebriated, which totally explains the success of Jack in the Box’s 24-hour-drive through.
