I-70 Adversaries

Welp, it’s been 25 years since the Kansas City Royals won the 1985 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, a victory admittedly tainted in the sixth game when first-base umpire Don Denkinger incorrectly called Jorge Orta safe. Would the Royals have won the game anyway? Who knows? But Bret Saberhagen’s subsequent 11-0 shutout in the seventh game might never have happened if Denkinger’s on-the-job brain fart had occurred at a less critical moment. Then where would we be? Doc Brown would be trapped in the Old West while Future Biff married Lorraine McFly. Marvin Berry might never have introduced his cousin Chuck to rock and roll. Well, at 7:10 p.m. (and 1:10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday), you can sort of relive the glorious 1985 World Series matchup in a half-assed way as the Kansas City Royals play the St. Louis Cardinals at Kauffman Stadium (I-70 and Blue Ridge Cutoff, 816-921-8000). Tickets range from $10 to $44.

Fri., June 25, 7:10 p.m.; Sat., June 26, 1:10 p.m.; Sun., June 27, 1:10 p.m., 2010
