Become immersed in 100 years of Disney’s enchanting history this weekend at Union Station’s newest exhibit. With over 250 objects spanning ten decades, the story of Kansas City and the Walt Disney Company are intertwined in interactive displays for all ages.

Featured locations from The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures and the University of Missouri-Kansas City localize the coastal company and give all Kansas Citians a unique connection to the magical kingdom.

Local establishments like Hallmark would not be the same today if not for the influence of Walt Disney on their product and founder Joyce C. Hall.

“Walt Disney has been so much a part of our happiness through the years that it is difficult to remember those distant days when his name was not a synonym for quality entertainment,” Hall wrote in a weekly newsletter to his company.

While wandering through a starry landscape, visitors can listen to clips from the 1920s black and white Mickey Mouse to the 2000s Lizzie McGuire, while posing with a giant Goofy statue or the Mandalorian’s moving Grogu (aka baby Yoda).

Guests might even discover that some of their favorite shows were unknowingly Disney productions like Gold Girls or Lost. The exhibit mirrors Disney’s affinity for easter eggs, as even the walls themselves tell a story and immerse visitors in the experience.

After exploring each decade of Disney, a film spanning three walls presents the founders humble beginnings growing up on a farm and original vision of curiosity and exploration.

The gift shop includes exclusive Disney100 merchandise, giving visitors a chance to remember the influence the company has had and look forward to the next century of Disney productions.

Tickets are available now for May 24 to Nov. 30, ranging from $15 to $25 and can be purchased on the Union Station website.
