Hump Day Hip-Hop

Everybody needs a little help getting over the hump. That’s where DJ Proof and True School Wednesdays come into play each week at Louise’s Downtown in Lawrence.
“It’s kind of something to get people through the week,” bartender and host Samuel Copeland says. Club kids at Louise’s say the event is a welcome addition to the Lawrence scene. With fewer clubs playing dance music in recent years, hip-hop is not often heard in downtown Lawrence unless it’s coming from a passing car.
DJ Proof spins tunes on the second floor of the bar from 10 p.m. until close every Wednesday. The cover is $2. And for those who prefer more drinking than dancing, there’s plenty of that, too. The signature beer schooners cost $3.25 most nights, and the bar also offers $1.50 single wells and $3 doubles tonight and every Wednesday. Louise’s Downtown is located at 1009 Massachusetts.
