How Do You Say It?

As dizzying selections of beer go, Flying Saucer Draught Emporium has the market cornered in the Power & Light District. The restaurant’s beer list stretches for miles and includes unusual imports from Europe alongside American standards. St. Louis’ Schlafly Beer — on tap all over Kansas City — is not among the Saucer’s most surprising offerings. But tonight, there’s a reason to sip Schlafly at 101 East 13th Street: Schlafly’s head brewer, Stephen Hale, will be there. Starting at 7 p.m., Hale will lead a beer tasting, including samples of the company’s Tripel, Grand Cru, Bière de Garde, Quadruple, Oak-Aged Barleywine and Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. Flying Saucer will provide snacks selected to complement the flavors of each beer. Cost to participate is $30 for members of Flying Saucer’s U.F.O. Club or $35 for everyone else. Call 816-221-1900 for reservations.
