Hoof It

Back in the good old days, our nation’s food supply came from small family-owned farms. Today, factory farming and the meat industry resemble a science-fiction novel in which keepers pump acres of confined livestock full of hormones and antibiotics —which is bad for the environment, worse for people and more than a little uncomfortable for the animals.Farm Sanctuary, a group dedicated to raising awareness about factory farming and abuses against all things Old MacDonald, organized today’s nationwide Walk for Animals fundraiser. The Kansas City chapter takes a stand today at Unity Temple on the Plaza (707 West 47th Street, 816-561-4466). Registration is at 11 p.m. Register today for $20.
