Home Run Derby Ticket Prices

Every July baseball fans are in for a treat when the MLB All-Star Weekend comes around. While there are a ton of fan events that surround MLB All-Star Weekend, the events on the field are always the main attractions. Taking place on consecutive nights at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins on July 14th the MLB begins its wildly popular Home Run Derby and All-Star Game.

In recent years , just like in the NBA with its Slam Dunk Contest, the MLBs annual Home Run Derby has come overshadowed the All-Star Game itself. In the late 1990’s the Home Run Derby began to become the biggest show of the weekend with players such as Mark Mcgwire, Sammy Sosa and Ken Griffey Jr. all putting up awe inspiring performances seemingly launching towering home runs into the stratosphere with each swing of the bat.

The pageantry of the Home Run Derby has not lost any of its luster as it has provided us with some of the most lasting memories from years past from Josh Hamiltons awe inspiring performance in 2008 at Yankee Stadium where he hit a mind blowing 28 home runs in a single round after years of battling addiction and who can forget Robinson Cano or Bryce Harper winning the derby with their fathers throwing balls to them.

When the midsummer classic does finally roll around later on this year the Home Run Derby tickets will be the most expensive they have been in the past five years. From 2010 through 2013 Home Run Derby tickets averaged $346.50 with the high coming in 2012 of $499 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City while the low was $216 at Chase Field in Phoenix in 2011. This season the when the Home Run Derby travels at Target Field tickets will be averaging $721, up 108% over the four year average. Despite being the most expensive Home Run Derby in years fans can still Get-in to the event for just $239 to try and catch a ball.
