Herschel Young, Cass County presiding commissioner, accused of attempting to kiss teenage boy, assaulting him at truck mud race

Yee-haw! It isn’t a Fun Run Mud Run truck race unless the newly elected presiding commissioner of Cass County is accused of assaulting — and trying to kiss — a teenage boy.

Herschel Young
rode the Republican wave and beat incumbent Gary Young on Tuesday. But back in June, according to KCTV5, the 43-year-old Young allegedly assaulted a teenage boy who was kissing a teenage girl as tucks raced through mud pits in Garden City. And they say romance is dead.

Prosecutors allege that Young grabbed the teen by his head and arm, tried to kiss him on the mouth and then threw him down on the ground. Why? It’s not clear, and the Star reports that Young admitted throwing down the teen and trying to kiss him. But he’s denying it now.
