Here Comes the Fun

When George Harrison died in 2001, he left behind a legacy of music and spirituality that inspired people around the world — not bad for the former Beatle known as “the quiet one.” Celebrate Harrison’s life in music tonight at Heart and Soul: A Benefit Concert for the George Garden at Harper’s (1601 East 18th Street).Local musicians Victor Kerr, the Billy Bats, the KC Ukesters and a surprise guest will perform Harrison’s tunes to help raise money for the George Harrison Memorial Foundation and its efforts to celebrate Harrison’s legacy by creating a garden and performance center on Troost. If a decades-deep catalog of musical entertainment isn’t enough, the benefit is serving up hors d’oeuvres and Ben & Jerry’s Imagine Whirled Peace ice cream. Doors for this all-ages show open at 7 p.m., and admission costs $20. For information, call 816-812-8530 or see thegeorgegarden.blogspot.com.
