Help escape-artist dogs at Great Plains SPCA get the exercise they need without the Houdini act

Dogs can be crafty creatures. Sometimes a little too tricky for their own good, like a few of the pups at the Great Plains SPCA (5428 Antioch, Merriam). Some of those dogs have a knack for escaping the play area. So a couple of volunteers have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to buy a cover for the play pen.

Here’s their plea: “Hi, I’m Gabi and I volunteer for our local pet shelter, located in KC (Great Plains SPCA, Merriam Location). I have committed to raising money for a covered play yard to help give dogs who are “escape artists ” exercise they desperately need! Please support our cause for the welfare of our Great Plains Dogs. Thanks so much!”

Molly McCluskey-Shipman tells The Pitch that she and Gabi, her 14-year-old daughter, have so far raised $905 of their $2,500 goal (a few people have made contributions outside the site). If you can throw them a bone, dogs such as Miranda, pictured above, would probably give you a wag and a thankful woof.
