Hell No

In the first quarter of 2010, the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department seized $3,224,714 worth of drugs. This dollar amount includes the street value of 434,433 grams of marijuana; 10,667 grams of meth; and 45 pills of ecstasy or thizz, a pill that contains MDMA mixed with various other substances (ketamine, say, or PCP). Say “nope to dope” and “ugh to drugs” at the 27th annual National Night Out Against Crime at Parade Park (between Truman Road and 17th Terrace and between the Paseo and Woodland). Last year, more than 36,000,000 people in some 15,000 communities participated in this event, which is meant to raise drug- and crime-prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership, and send a “take that” message to criminals. Hosting this year’s rally is Ron Ron. Expect guest speakers, a blood drive, free hot dogs, drill teams and lots of youth giveaways. The free festivities begin around 6 p.m.
