Heavy Rotation – New Paintings by Aaron Marable

From the artist’s statement:
“Call it a teenage love song addressed to love songs. This group of paintings is not unlike kids filling notebooks with band names or kissing album covers of sean cassidy in their bedrooms after school. All of it done out of pure, unadulterated admiration. Longing to be identified with the bands who could write such songs, dress so cooly, and capture so much attention while you struggle to get the busdriver to remember your name.
After years of working in a record store and djing around town, I decided to put together a visual dj gig. When you sit or dance in a bar with a dj, you have paid this person to be a selector—trusting them to have good taste. to play the sweet jams. So, with that in mind, I have picked some of the records that seem to hit the turntable at home more often than others. It is my mixed tape of classics. They are in Heavy Rotation.”
