Heat suspected cause in two Kansas City deaths

  • Drink more water.

The Kansas City Health Department announced Thursday that it suspects heat played a role in the deaths of a 60-year-old man and a 1-year-old boy. The entire Kansas City metro is under an excessive heat warning. On Thursday temperatures in Kansas City hit 107. The excessive heat warning expires for Kansas City on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Kansas City area YMCAs and Salvation Army locations and community centers are open as cooling centers for those without air conditioning. There’s a full list of locations and times here.
