Happy-Hour Hit list: Old Bars

Ratified in Missouri on August 29, 1933, the 21st Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment, effectively ending Prohibition and giving drink slingers the green light to serve again. Cheers to these local institutions that have been going at it for the past 70-plus years.

• Davey’s Uptown Rambler’s Club (3402 Main, 816-753-1909): First located at 3535 Broadway in 1933, Davey’s took over its current space, which was at the time called the Bow and Arrow Rambler’s Club #2, in 1950. Take aim on sobriety with $1.75 wells and $1-$1.50 domestic drafts from 1:30 to 10 p.m.

• Kelly’s Westport Inn (500 Westport Road, 816-561-5800): Since 1947, when it became the Westport Inn, those who have entered the corner Irish bar have come away with their own stories. Today from 3 to 7 p.m., drink $2 domestic, $2.50 Boulevard and $2.75 Fat Tire drafts.

• The Peanut (5000 Main, 816-753-9499): Cocktails have been served (we aren’t so sure about chicken wings) in this South Plaza neighborhood spot since 1933. Get $3 Miller Lite bottles from 3 to 6 p.m.
