The Kansas City Fiber Guild and the Weaver’s Guild of Greater Kansas City are tightly woven entities, allowing dues-paying fiber and textile artists to form a more perfect union and enjoy a stronger presence in the local art market. Each year, the guilds focus their joint efforts on the Creative Hand Show and Sale — a two-day event that showcases a year’s worth of sweaters, shawls, rugs, hats, mittens, scarves, jackets, blankets and beyond. The guilds are built on friendships and shared knowledge, assimilating post-grad art students and dedicated hobbyists looking to sell their wearable wares. Today from 4 to 9 p.m., more than 35 such artists bring their goods to the 25th-annual sale at the Sylvester Powell Jr. Community Center in Mission (6200 Martway, 913-722-8200). See the crafty fashions on display during a 7 p.m. fashion show, or stop by Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Admission is free.
