Half-Corked

It’s not unusual for diners at Café Trio (3535 Broadway) to show up in sparkly gowns and expensive suits, what musician Teri Wilder refers to as “fancy nightwear.” She supposes they’re on their way to or from the theater (not the AMC). But the Café’s not too uppity to serve those of us to whom khakis and a sweater constitute well-dressed, nor is the upscale vibe matched by high prices. It’s especially reasonable if you stick to the small-plate entrées and go there for wine on a Tuesday night. That’s when Wilder sings along to the keyboard accompaniment of Bill Laursen and when wine — by the glass or bottle — goes for half-price. Hear Wilder and Laursen tonight between 6 and 9. Wilder recommends reservations. Make them online at www.cafetriokc.com or call 816-756-3227.
